Digital Desk: The Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) significant win in Chandigarh Municipal Elections has indicated their chances of winning the upcoming Assembly elections in Punjab.
AAP won 14 seats out of 35 wards in Chandigarh in a massive boost. BJP won the last Chandigarh Municipal polls. They have earned 21 seats of 26 wards earlier. However, AAP has swept most seats this time, indicating their footprints over the region.
This time BJP managed to gain only 12 seats, including Congress winning only eight seats and the Akali Dal 1.
The outcome of AAP winning majority seats also implies that people of the region are building trust upon the party and their considerations. This convincing win also opens the pathway for AAP for the upcoming Punjab Assembly polls.
Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) made a stellar debut in Chandigarh Municipal polls this term. "AAP's win in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation points at an imminent change in Punjab. People have rejected corrupt politics and have chosen AAP...Punjab is ready for change," tweeted Arvind Kejriwal.

Moreover, the party's senior leader, Raghav Chadha, stated that it was a "victory of Kejriwal's governance model as people were yearning for a change for years."
In a massive knock for the BJP, mayor Ravi Kant Sharma and former mayor Davesh Moudgil were defeated by AAP candidates. This setback for BJP indicates their snags and suggests the probability of Congress in the upcoming Punjab Assembly polls.
It seems like the decision of Congress to replace Jat Sikh Captain Amarinder Singh with Dalit Sikh Charanjit Singh Channi miserably failed to revive the electoral prospects in the state.
AAP leader Raghav Chadha said this win in the Chandigarh municipal poll as "a trailer." The statement implies that the complete picture will be screened in February in the upcoming Punjab Assembly election.
