Digital Desk: Ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra, the security apparatus in Jammu has been bolstered with a rigorous mock drill conducted by the quick reaction teams (QRTs) and special operations group (SoG) of the police. This exercise took place at the base camp of the pilgrimage in Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, as part of preparations for the upcoming 52-day journey to the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently reviewed the security arrangements, underscoring the importance of readiness for the pilgrimage starting on June 29. The drill involved first responder teams from various sub-division headquarters, enhancing their capabilities to handle emergencies effectively.
"The primary objective of this exercise was to provide practical training to the entire team, ensuring they are well-prepared to handle real-time operations in the event of any unforeseen incidents,” said a police officer involved in the drill. The participation of SOG Jammu and other territorial police units highlighted a coordinated approach to security measures.
Following the drill, authorities affirmed the success of the exercise, signaling the readiness and seamless coordination among security forces. In light of these preparations, the police have issued an ‘alert advisory’ to residents of the Jammu region, urging vigilance against suspicious activities.
The mock drill not only serves as a rehearsal for security protocols but also reassures pilgrims of a safe and secure journey during the Amarnath Yatra.
