The wedding took place at a cowshed organized by Shree Om Nandeshwar Mahadev Trust. The event took place on the outskirts of the city in Ladvi village on Friday.
The organizers have claimed that the cow wedding event was to fulfill a dream of Pipladgiri Maharaj of Gandhari Ashram had seen to create awareness regarding cow rearing.
Vinod Saraswat, a participant of the event, also shared his experience with the media. Saraswat said that over 10,000 people visited the temple on Friday. Everyone participated in the marriage. Food was also prepared for 10,000 people, and everybody enjoyed the event.
Weddings could only have 400 people at the maximum, as ordered by the state government due to the Covid-19 surge. However, more than 10,000 people were present at the cow wedding, violating the guidelines.
On the day of the cow wedding, 2,986 new COVID-19 infections were registered in Surat city. Last week, a similar happening was noted in Ahmedabad, where three individuals were charged for celebrating the birthday of their pet dog.
Chirag Patel and his brother Urvish Patel and their companion Divyesh Mehria were held after sharing video footage of celebrating the birthday of their pet dog lavishly.
Police have reported that Chirag has spent as much as Rs 7 lakhs to throw the grand party.
