Local fisherman claim that someone unknown may have purposefully set the boats on fire, raising suspicions of foul play.
Digital Desk: On the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, a large fire started at the fishing harbour in Visakhapatnam, reports stated on Monday.
Police said that some 40 fiber-mechanized boats had burned to the ground, but no one had been hurt or killed.
Locals informed the firefighters, who showed up very quickly to put out the fire.
The official stated that the fire rapidly spread to other nearby boats after starting with just one.

Anand Reddy, Visakhapatnam's Deputy Commissioner of Police, stated: "At midnight, the fire started on a boat at the fishing port in Vishakhapatnam and quickly spread to about 35 fiber-mechanized boats. Both the fire and police departments arrived right away. It was successful in containing the fire. We still need to find out what started the fire. There were no recorded casualties or injuries from the event. An inquiry is under progress and a formal complaint has been lodged."
It is to be noted that further investigation into the matter is underway.
