Digital Desk: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will announce the dates for the next legislative elections in the five states of Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, and Rajasthan on Monday, October 8, 2023.

To announce the dates for voting, the number of phases, and the deadlines for submitting and withdrawing nominations, the election commission has scheduled a press conference for today at 12:00 pm, according to news agency PTI.

The legislative sessions of these five states' legislative assemblies are scheduled to end between December 2023 and January 2024. Six to eight weeks prior to the end of the legislative assembly's term, the ECI typically announces the election schedule.

All of the major political parties, including the Congress, which is leading the opposition, the regional parties, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is in power, will face a significant test in the upcoming assembly elections.

Two of the five states— In Rajasthan and ChhattisgarhCongress is in power, while Madhya Pradesh is ruled by the BJP. In Telangana, the Mizo National Front (MNF) is in charge, and in Mizoram, the KCR-led Bharat Rashtra Samiti is in power.

As per the reports, the voting is likely to take place between the second week of November and the first week of December.

According to EC sources, Telangana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Mizoram may all vote in single phase, as they did in 2018.

Similar to how it was in 2018, the Chhattisgarh election is likely to be conducted in two phases.
