Digital Desk: A CRPF officer was tragically killed during an ongoing encounter with terrorists in Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
The officer, an inspector, was leading his team to assess a new post intended for the deployment of a CRPF battalion when they were ambushed by terrorists. The officer sustained fatal injuries from opponent gunfire and was confirmed dead at the scene.
The post, situated approximately eight kilometers from the police station in the Dudu area, is part of new anti-terror measures being implemented in the hilly terrain of Jammu. This incident highlights the escalating terrorist activity in the region, which has seen a troubling increase in recent months.
In July, a gunfight in Doda district resulted in the deaths of four Army personnel, including an officer, and a police officer, with the attack claimed by the 'Kashmir Tigers,' a faction linked to Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).
Earlier in the month, five Army personnel, including a junior commissioned officer, were killed in an ambush on a mountainous road in Kathua district. Additionally, on July 6, security forces neutralized six terrorists in Kulgam district, where two soldiers also lost their lives in separate encounters.
