    Delhi Shivers at 4.6 degrees Celsius, Air Quality Slightly Improves

    New Delhi: India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘Yellow alert’ in Delhi for the next three days regarding the cold wave.





    Today, the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of four degrees Celsius, the lowest for this season. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in Noida settled at 8.8 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest day this month so far.





    Moreover, the temperature declines in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar and Jharkhand.

    According to reports, due to snowfall in the mountains and winds coming from the northwest areas, people are experiencing cold.





    On the other hand, the IMD has also issued a yellow alert for cold waves in several areas of Uttarakhand till Dec 21. As per the IMD, the lowest temperature in the state on Friday was recorded in Ranichauri (-2.7°C), Mukteshwar (0.2°C), Mussoorie (0.9°C), Pithoragarh (0.9°C), and New Tehri (1.4°C).





    IMD has also issued an ‘Orange alert’ for severe cold wave conditions in several areas of Rajasthan in the coming days.





    “Cold winds swept Rajasthan as minimum temperatures in Fatehpur and Churu dropped below the freezing point. The minimum temperature was recorded at minus 3.3 degrees Celsius in Fatehpur Sikri and in neighbouring Churu, it was minus 1.1 degrees Celsius.” IMD said.





    On the other hand, Delhi’s Air Quality slightly improved to the ‘poor’ quality on Sunday, with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) at 290. On the contrary, the air quality in the NCR region, like Noida and Gurugram, are in the `poor` and `very poor` category respectively. The AQI in Noida stands at 283, while AQI in Gurugram stands at 308.
