Digital Desk: Dense to extremely dense fog is predicted to continue throughout the northern Indian states through December 30, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). According to the IMD advisory, cold day conditions are also expected to persist in some areas of Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi.

Transport services have been severely impacted by the dense fog, with several cancellations and delays experienced by trains and airplanes. As many as eleven trains have been delayed because of heavy fog in the northern Indian states, according to the most recent information provided by Northern Railways.
In Gautam Buddh Nagar, which includes Noida and Greater Noida, schools are still shuttered due to the extreme cold. The district administration mandated that schools be closed to students on December 29 and 30. Teachers and other employees would, however, continue to work.
For the next five days, the IMD forecasted that the minimum temperature will primarily remain between seven and eight degrees Celsius. The national capital's maximum temperature was recorded at 21.4 degrees Celsius on Thursday, which was also one degree over normal. The minimum temperature was 8.4 degrees Celsius on Thursday, which was one degree above the season's average.
Images shared on social media showed people in Delhi's shelter houses sleeping. In the vicinity of Indira Gandhi International Airport, visibility was nearly totally cut off at midnight on Thursday, according to a video released by the news agency ANI.

"The Met Department has issued an advisory for dense fog, advising travelers to keep informed about airline, railroad, and state transportation schedules, and drivers to use fog lights. "Exercise caution while driving or using any mode of transportation," stated the IMD.
