Lucknow: Lately, just two months ahead of the upcoming assembly polls, the government has made a series of announcements for the development of Uttar Pradesh (UP).
One of the significant announcements made by the state government takes the top toll. On Monday, the state government said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would lay the foundation stone of the Noida International Airport at Jewar. The foundation laying ceremony will take place on November 25.
Presently, Uttar Pradesh has eight operational airports, while 13 airports and seven airstrips are being developed.
"With the groundbreaking and foundation laying ceremony of the Noida International Airport scheduled on November 25, the state is now on its way to have five international airports - the highest for any state in India, the BJP-led state government announced in a statement.
Uttar Pradesh initially had only two international airports - Lucknow and Varanasi. The third international airport at Kushinagar became operational after Modi inaugurated it on October 20 this year.
The construction work on the airport in Ayodhya is in full swing, and the air services are expected to commence early next year. The fifth international airport is to come up at Jewar near Noida in the National Capital Region (NCR).

This development will highlight the state as the first state in India to have five international airports. However, the decision of such development came late this year, just ahead of the polls. It's been more than four years that UP has seen such a series of developement lately.
The situation of education and employment in the state still needs concern. Even though these sectors are pulled back more often, the state badly dropped its rankings in these sectors' growth and development.
The Noida International Airport (NIA) is being built near the city of Jewar in Gautam Buddh Nagar in the NCR region in Uttar Pradesh. The statement stated that its location is approximately 72 kilometers from the current IGI airport in New Delhi.
The phase-1 of the airport will have the potential to assist 12 million travelers a year. It is scheduled to be completed in 36 months.
