New Delhi: The year-long farmers’ protest against the three farm laws came to an end after the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) announced it today a while ago.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the SKM after the Center sent a draft proposal to the SKM’s five-member committee following a letter on November 21 from the SKM to Prime Minister Narendra Modi listing six demands.
As per SKM, they will end their protest on December 11 and will return to their homes. Moreover, the Kisan unions have planned a Fateh Ardas today at 5.30 pm and Fateh March at Singhu and Tikri protest sites on Delhi’s borders on December 11 at 9 am.

Sources quoted that the farmer’s leaders from Punjab plan to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on December 13. Moreover, SKM will hold another meeting in Delhi on December 15.
Notably, the farmers decided to continue their agitation against the three bills even after PM Modi’s announcement to repeal them on November 19.
The Center had agreed to form a committee to decide the Minimum Support Price (MSP) issue. It also agreed to withdraw all the police cases against the farmers arrested during the protest and asked all the states to follow the same.
Additionally, Electricity Amendment Bill, 2020/2021, will be introduced only after consulting all the stakeholders, including SKM, regarding the sections affecting farmers.
