Chennai: With every passing day, crimes against women are increasing manifolds. Even after stricter laws mandated against the wrong-doers, it seems the devils of the society are least perturbed by these lawful actions, and continue to harm or target their prey without fear. In one such stark reality of women’s condition in the country, a young girl from Tamil Nadu committed suicide alleging sexual harassment in her suicide note. She was a student of Class 11 at a Chennai school. She was found hanging from the ceiling of her room at her home in Chennai’s Mangadu last week.

The police have recovered a suicide note in which the girl wrote, “Stop Sexual Harassment”. She added in the note that has been facing mental trauma due to the harassment. She even appealed to parents to teach their sons how to respect girls in society.
“Every parent should teach their sons to respect girl. Don’t trust relatives or teachers. The only safe place is a mother’s womb and the cemetery,” read the letter.
She said schools or a relative’s place were not safe. Reports have quoted her family members as saying that she was harassed by someone from her previous school. The change of school reportedly did not end her harassment.
The suicide letter said she wasn’t able to concentrate on her studies. She talked about having recurring nightmares and failing to sleep at night.
The police have formed a four special teams to investigate the matter. The investigating team is trying to look into the girl's call records in her mobile phone to find out who has been frequent with her on the phone.
