    India Covid Alert: 415 cases and rising, Omicron is spreading!

    New Delhi: India Covid Alert! India has recorded 415 Omicron cases till today, reported the Health Ministry in their health bulletin. At least 115 have recovered from the new Covid variant. Maharashtra leads the tally with the highest number of Omicron cases. As per the latest India Covid cases reported, Maharashtra leads with 108 Omicron cases, followed by Delhi with 79 Omicron cases.





    Gujarat has 43 cases and Telangana 38. Kerala has reported a total of 37 Omicron cases, followed by Tamil Nadu leading with 34. No Omicron case has been reported in the North-eastern region of India.





    Once again, the festivity mood has been dampened by the advent of the new Omicron variant, heralding another pandemic tinged Christmas for billions across the globe.

    As India Covid cases continue to rise in an unprecedented rate, restrictions imposed on huge gatherings, re-unions due to the Omicron variant is sounding a dampening festive mood again this year.





    Maharashtra government has allowed gatherings of not more than 5 people between 9 pm and 6 am. Following suite, Haryana and Delhi too have imposed restrictions on Christmas and New Year celebrations, though Delhi has allowed places of worship to remain open.





    India’s total covid-19 count has risen to 3,47,79,815 with 7,189 fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile active cases have declined to 77,032 according to health ministry’s data.





    The number of dead has climbed to 4,79,520 with 387 more fatalities, data showed. Daily coronvirus remained below the 15,000 marks for the last 58 days.





    In the meantime, the central government is planning to deploy multi-disciplinary team in 10 Indian states which have continued to report a spike due to the Omicron variant of coronavirus or have a slow Covid vaccination pace.





    As per the union health ministry, the ten states where the Centre will be deploying is multi-disciplinary team are – Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Mizoram, Karnataka, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Punjab.

    Surge in Omicron cases has put state governments on toes. The Health Ministry has said that 61 percent of the adult population is fully vaccinated, whole 89 percent has received their first vaccine dose.





    Meanwhile, the Omicron variant though remains out of proximity in the Northeastern region of India, not a single case of Omicron has been reported in Assam yet. Yet, the World Health Oganisation has classified it as ‘variant of concern’ and all necessary steps and precautions have been initiated by the state government of Assam to prevent spread of the variant. Assam Omicron cases for today continues to remain nil, yet proper Covid protocols should be maintained at all times.
