Digital Desk: Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel has stirred political speculation by predicting a mid-term general election within the next year. Baghel's remarks, made at a public event, coincide with the BJP-led NDA MPs choosing Narendra Modi as their leader and the presumptive next Prime Minister.

"Party workers, be prepared. There is going to be a mid-term election between six months and one year," Baghel declared, hinting at potential political upheaval on the horizon. In his address, Baghel didn't shy away from taking swipes at several prominent BJP figures, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Baghel's criticism extended to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom he metaphorically depicted as the camel now being under the mountain. He highlighted perceived changes in Modi's demeanor, noting shifts from frequent wardrobe changes to attending multiple events in the same outfit, suggesting a shift in priorities.

The Congress leader emphasized that the public had delivered a resounding message to the BJP in the recent Lok Sabha elections. He pointed out the consequences for those who allegedly engaged in party fragmentation, imprisonment of elected chief ministers, and intimidation tactics.

Baghel's remarks come in the wake of the BJP's parliamentary meeting, where Narendra Modi was reaffirmed as the leader of the NDA parliamentary party, setting the stage for his third term as Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, the opposition INDIA bloc, bolstered by its seat count of 234, has interpreted the Lok Sabha election results as a setback for Narendra Modi, despite the NDA securing a comfortable majority with 293 seats.

Baghel's prediction injects a dose of uncertainty into India's political landscape, hinting at potential shifts and realignments shortly, as parties brace themselves for the possibility of a mid-term election.
