Indian Muslims needn’t worry about CAA, have equal rights as Hindus; says Centre amid protests

Digital Desk: In a recent statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Central government of India has sought to allay the fears surrounding the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), particularly among the Indian Muslim community. The statement unequivocally asserts that the CAA does not jeopardize the citizenship of Indian Muslims and guarantees their equal rights alongside their Hindu counterparts.

According to the ministry's statement, the CAA, which aims to provide refuge to persecuted minorities from neighboring countries, does not impinge upon the citizenship of the existing Indian Muslim population. It explicitly states that no Indian citizen, irrespective of their religious affiliation, will be required to produce any documents to prove their citizenship under this Act.

The government highlighted the plight of minorities facing persecution in certain Muslim-majority countries, emphasizing that the CAA stands as a testament to India's commitment to humanitarian values.
