Digital Desk: Multiple farmer unions are planning a protest rally in support of CISF constable Kulwinder Kaur, who allegedly slapped BJP MP-elect Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh Airport on Thursday. The farmers' groups plan to organize an "Insaaf (Justice) March" in Punjab's Mohali on June 9, demanding that no undue action be taken against Kaur and calling for a thorough investigation into the events leading up to the incident.

The controversy arose when Bollywood actor and newly elected BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi constituency, Kangana Ranaut, claimed she was slapped by a woman constable during a security check at the Chandigarh Airport. According to Kaur, the altercation stemmed from Kangana's controversial remarks about Punjabi women who participated in the farmers' protests. In a video statement, the 35-year-old constable said, "My mother was also among the protesters when she [Kangana] said they were protesting to get a sum of Rs 100."

Prominent farmer organizations such as the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have voiced their support for Kulwinder Kaur. Leaders like Jagjit Singh Dallewal of the SKM (Non-Political) and Sarwan Singh Pandher, General Secretary of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, plan to meet with Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav to ensure a proper investigation. "We will demand a proper investigation and we will tell him that there should be no injustice with the woman constable," Dallewal stated at a press conference.

On June 9, the "Insaaf March" will proceed to the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police in Mohali, advocating for fair treatment of the constable. Additionally, Kulwinder Kaur's brother, Sher Singh, a prominent farmer leader and the organization secretary of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, is actively involved in the campaign for justice.

Meanwhile, the CISF has suspended Kulwinder Kaur and initiated a probe panel to investigate the alleged slapping incident. The farmer unions remain steadfast in their demand for justice for Kaur, emphasizing the need for a transparent and unbiased inquiry into the matter.
