Digital Desk: On the occasion of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's death anniversary, Mahaparinirvan Diwas pays respect to him.
According to an official notification, this day has been proclaimed a public holiday in Mumbai and its suburbs, and all government and non-government institutions will be closed in observance of Mahaparinirvan Diwas.
The Mumbai traffic police made intricate plans to ensure that vehicles moved smoothly during 'Mahaparinirvan Din,' the 67th death anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar.
From Monday to Thursday, thousands of people came to Chaitya Bhoomi in Dadar to honour Dr. Ambedkar on Mahaparinirvan Diwas. Traffic restrictions were implemented from 6 a.m. on Tuesday and will remain in effect until 12 a.m. today.
The Swatantryaveer Savarkar Road will be closed from the junction with the Siddhivinayak Temple to the Hinduja Hospital. Furthermore, the northbound S K Bole Road would be a one-way street from the Siddhivinayak Temple junction to the Portuguese Church junction, according to PTI. Vehicles will be prohibited from using other routes, including Ranade Road.
According to officials, there are also restrictions on the passage of heavy vehicles on the SV Road-Mahim junction to Hardikar junction.
Dr. BR Ambedkar was honoured today by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and other legislators paid tribute to the author of the Constitution at his statue on the grounds of the Parliament.
