Mamata Banerjee slams CAA, claims it labels applicants as foreigners for 5 years
She urged the Matua community, not to apply for CAA as they would lose their citizenship......

Digital desk: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declared on Sunday at her first Lok Sabha rally in the Krishnanagar constituency that she would not allow the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to be implemented in the state and that the BJP was misleading the Matua community and using them as a vote bank ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, claiming that she would defeat the BJP fighting by itself in West Bengal.

Mamata Banerjee said, "I will not allow CAA to be implemented in Bengal. We will not allow anyone to become part of NRC here. They (BJP) lie to the Matua for vote bank politics. Do you want to put yourself in danger? Once you apply, you will lose all your benefits in social schemes. Let all BJP candidates apply for CAA."

She urged the Matua community, not to apply for CAA as they would lose their citizenship. CAA will lead to NRC and Matua people will be in trouble she said.

In the last Lok Sabha and assembly elections in West Bengal, the BJP made the electoral promise to implement the CAA. With over a crore voters in the state, the community has spread among the districts of Nadia, Cooch Behar, North and South 24 Parganas, which border Bangladesh.

The Trinamool Supremo continued by saying that she had always had a deep concern for the Matua people and that she had covered all of Boroma's medical costs while she was still living.

She accused INDIA bloc partners CPI(M) and Congress of "joining hands with BJP" in West Bengal and asserted that the Opposition alliance has "ceased to exist" in the state.

The expelled MP of TMC Mahua Moitra, was being hounded by the ED and CBI, according to Banerjee, who stood by her when Moitra spoke out against the BJP in the Central. "ED-CBI raj now in Bengal... they are harassing our candidates and leaders, including innocent parents of Moitra,"  Banerjee remarked, referring to the CBI's recent raids at Moitra's Kolkata home.

She also added, "If you have confidence to win 400 plus seats then why do you need ED, CBI, IT? Why has Mahua been tortured? Around 15 vote managers were arrested by NIA. Why was notice sent to our party workers? After election starts, this cannot be done."
