Raipur: People's lives are full of trouble and consequences, but how they handle them shows what they are made of! Santosh Ghose is one example who, with his willpower, has saved many lives despite being diagnosed with a life-threatening disease.
Santosh Ghose, a Rural Medical Organizer, diagnosed with Leukemia, has left no stone unturned during the battle against covid-19 in the remote tribal areas of Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district.
When he was posted in the remote tribal areas, he undertook an assignment to go among the tribal people to get them vaccinated against covid-19 and created awareness among the rural masses to remove vaccine hesitancy.
Due to his effort and determination, the area is 100 per cent fully vaccinated, which might not be possible for many to go to that remote areas and convince the tribal masses to get themselves inoculated against the disease.

Surprisingly, many in his department did not know that he had Leukemia, for which he had to visit Mumbai for treatment.
Ghose faced many challenges from his childhood as he lost his parents when he was a teenager and grew up taking care of his sibling as a guardian.
A father of two children, Ghose said, "I understand the pain of losing dear ones; I was shattered after losing them. So I decided to dedicate my life to serve the poor tribal masses who are left out of the vaccination drive when it got started."
"It's not easy to convince them, as the people were not aware of the vaccination drive." he added.
To serve the poor tribal masses daily, he treks 3-4 kilometres through hilly and forested terrain to reach the villages.
Ghose formed a core team comprised of the anganwadi workers, community health workers, local sarpanch, teachers and village elders.
His commitment to serve the poor masses made him a hero in the tribal areas, who, by giving his example, convinced the villagers that when a cancer patient like him can get vaccinated against the deadly disease, then why they should be afraid to get inoculated themselves.
Ghose's stands as an example in the society who, despite ill health, serve the tribal people facing their aggression in the initial days, who later tagged Ghosh as their saviour.
