Digital Desk: From September 2021 to March this year, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has declared a 'drought of a moderate nature' across the whole state.
According to an official statement issued by the Department of Information and Public Relations here on Tuesday, the NSDMA declared a 'drought of a moderate nature' after taking into account the conditions caused by a lack of rainfall and bad agricultural conditions.
According to the statement, it also assessed the distress situation that had evolved in nearly the whole farming region affected by these conditions through field verification. The NSDMA also took into account the reports provided by the Deputy Commissioners and Chairmen of the District Disaster Management Authorities in question (DDMAs).
The declaration of drought would take effect on September 15, 2021, and would last for six months, until further order, according to the NSDMA statement, based on the lack of, deficiency, and below-normal rainfall reported from March to November 2021.
