    Nirmala Sitharaman tables ‘white paper’ on Indian economy in Lok Sabha

    In her Interim Budget speech, Sitharaman declared that the government would release a white paper detailing the economic mismanagement that occurred during the 10 years of UPA rule till 2014.

    Digital Desk: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday presented a "White Paper on the Indian Economy" to the Lok Sabha on Thursday. In her Interim Budget speech, Sitharaman declared that the government would release a white paper detailing the economic mismanagement that occurred during the 10 years of UPA rule till 2014.

    The economy is now firmly on a highly sustainable growth path with all-around development, according to Sitharaman, who also noted that the NDA government overcame the crisis of those years. "Looking back at our current situation in comparison to where we were in 2014 is appropriate if only to extract some lessons from the mishandled years.The Government will place a White Paper on the House table, " she said.

    "From 5.3 percent in 2017 to 2.4 percent in 2023, the unemployment rate in rural areas has decreased," stated FM Sitharaman in the Rajya Sabha.
