Northeastern states to be demarcated through Satellite Imaging, to settle the Inter-State Border Dis

Guwahati: The recent inter-state border disputes between Assam and Mizoram have come under focus after six Assam Police personnel and one civilian was killed in clashes on July 26.

The tension between the states of Assam and Mizoram has further escalated, leading to violence in the area. The Central Government has decided to demarcate the Northeast Indian state boundaries through satellite imaging to settle inter-state border disputes.

The North Eastern Space Application Centre has been tasked by two senior government functionaries for the same. Union Home Minister Amit Shah mooted the idea for demarcation of inter-state boundaries through satellite imaging, a few months ago. He suggested roping in NESAC for mapping the inter-state borders and forests in the North-eastern region.

The government functionaries said that there will be no scope for any discrepancy. Further adding that there will be better acceptability of boundary solutions if there will be scientific methods in the demarcation of borders.

Once the satellite mapping work completes through satellite imaging, boundaries shall be drawn, which resolves the boundary issues permanently.
