New Delhi: India crosses the 500 mark of Omicron cases, taking the tally to 578, said the Ministry of Health on Monday.
Delhi stood highest with 142 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 141, Kerala with 57, Gujarat with 49 and Rajasthan with 43 cases, reports said.
On the other hand, 151 Omicron negative patients have been discharged from hospitals so far.
On Sunday, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh also reported Omicron cases for the first time.
Notably, due to a spike in Omicron cases, several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, had imposed a night curfew. In addition, the Delhi government has announced to impose a night curfew from today onwards.

Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced to start the vaccination drive to inoculate children between 15-18 from January 3. Moreover, the third dose for the frontline workers and senior citizens with comorbidities will start from January 10.
As per official reports, so far, the vaccine has been inoculated to more than 61 percent of India’s adult population. Similarly, over 90% of the adult population has had their first dose of the Covid vaccine.
Reportedly, to discuss the present covid-19 situation ahead of the assembly election in five states, today, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has held a meeting with Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan and the senior officials of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Assembly elections are scheduled for next year in five states: Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Punjab.
The Allahabad High Court recently appealed to the ECI to postpone the assembly poll in the five states.
In addition, the court also appeals to the Prime Minister of India to ban the election-related gatherings and meetings in the poll-bound states.
