Guwahati: Omicron is here and so the lingering fear of another Covid outbreak has sensitized people around. Amid the Omicron scare, we have witnessed a rise in number of cases of Covid 19 in European nation, China and various other parts of the world with South Africa first detecting the new variant.
Omicron, the new variant first detected in Botswana, sent Europe into high alert after cases were detected in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Belgium. The Czech Republic, Austria, Israel and the Netherlands were all investigating suspected cases of the variant.
Relatively little is known about Omicron. It has mutations that scientists fear could make it more infectious and less susceptible to vaccines — though neither of these effects has yet to be established. Most confirmed cases of the variant are contained to southern African countries, but there are worries Omicron could have spread more widely before scientists there discovered it.
Amid this, countries have witnessed a decline in their self-care with regards to Covid awareness. Many are seen not wearing masks, or maintaining social distancing. With the relative easing out of covid guidelines, people too have taken the situation lightly and dropped wearing their masks, washing hands with sanitizers and crowding in public places.
An appeal - Omicron is here. If two cases have been detected in india today, it won't take much time for the tally to double and a new containment measures to be placed to contain the spread of he infection.
In order to avoid any lockdown or doubling of cases, it is mandatory that one follows the mandatory covid protocols in order to remain protected from the infection and equally keep your family members protected.
