New Delhi: Amidst the rising prices of the basic commodities including LPG, petrol and others, people across the nation are observing the occasion of Dhanteras on Tuesday. Political leaders and union ministers have also wished for the happiness and prosperity of everyone.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of the country. On the early morning of Tuesday, he took to his social media account on Twitter to wish everyone. "Greetings to everyone on the special occasion of Dhanteras,” he said.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also took to Twitter and greeted the people on this special festive occasion. He said that “I wish happiness and prosperity across the country. Greeting to all in the festival of Dhanteras!”.

In addition to PM Modi and Gandhi, Union Ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh and others have also extended their wishes.
Dhanteras marks the first day of the festival of lights Diwali. It is observed on the thirteenth lunar day of the month of Kartika according to the Indian Hindu calendar. On this day people purchase new things like utensils, precious materials like gold and silver, and other valuables. People also worship the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity Lakshmi. Hindus consider this day as a very auspicious day.
