Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced a reduction of Rs 100 in cooking gas cylinder prices on the occasion of International Women's Day. PM Modi announced on X.

This will help millions of households nationwide, especially our Nari Shakti, by greatly easing their financial burden, he further added.

"Today, on Women's Day, our Government has decided to reduce LPG cylinder prices by ₹ 100. This will significantly ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, especially benefiting our Nari Shakti," his post read.

We also aim to promote family well-being and a healthier environment by reducing the cost of cooking gas. This is consistent with our dedication to providing women with "Ease of Living" and empowering them.

It should be noted that state-run oil corporations play a major role in setting the price of LPG, and that price is subject to vary every month in accordance with the price of crude oil globally.

Assam's LPG prices grow in response to increases in crude oil, and vice versa.

The low-income section of the population in Assam is currently eligible for subsidized home LPG gas cylinders (14.2 kilograms) from the Indian government. The customer's bank account will receive a direct transfer of the subsidy amount. In India nowadays, the majority of people have easy access to cooking gas. In Assam (Guwahati), the cost of a domestic LPG cylinder is Rs. 952.
