Bhubaneswar: Nanda Prusty, recently honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award, was threatened to death over a land dispute.
As per reports, the son of 102-year-old Nanda Prusty was stopped by some miscreants on a road while he had gone out to buy medicines for his father. The miscreants beat him and threatened to do the same with his father if the Padma Shri awardee would not agree with them.
Later, some locals rescued Nanda’s son, and he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Speaking about the incident, Nanda’s grandson Khageswar stated, “Recently, a previously filed civil case pertaining to a land which was disputed by some fake claimants to be of their own was dismissed by a local court after which we started the construction of our house over it. But, the other party which is claiming ownership of the land threatened my grandfather and attacked my father while he was going to buy medicine.”
In connection to the case, an FIR has been raised and police are investigating the life-threatening case to arrest the miscreants who run away from the spot.
IIC of Sukinda Police station, Shiva Charan Behera, stated, “During the investigation two mobile phones have been seized from the house of the accused and are being scrutinized. We have formed a team and they will be arrested soon.”
Notably, Nanda Prusty, fondly known as ‘Nanda Sir’, was conferred with the fourth-highest civilian award by the President of India for providing free education to children and adults in Jaipur; Odisha was given life threat which shows how much the society gives respect to a Padma awardee. Nanda had sacrificed his life for the sake of the village people, but now it seems that the people failed to give him the respect he deserves.
We can say that this incident clarifies that all the awards received by the personalities remain in pen and paper only with zero value among the people.
