'No greater book in world than Quran, should be included in NCERT': Samajwadi Party MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq
The MP for Sambhal, who has often been in the headlines for his controversial remarks, opposed the Ramayana and Mahabharata being taught in NCERT textbooks.

Digital Desk: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) decided to include epics like the Ramayana and Mahabharata in textbooks. Samajwadi Party MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq disagreed, arguing that the Quran should be taught in the curriculum because there is no greater book than 'Quran Sharif' in the world.

The MP for Sambhal, who has often been in the headlines for his controversial remarks, opposed the Ramayana and Mahabharata being taught in NCERT textbooks.

    What is the whole matter?

"There is no greater book in the world than the Quran. The book is written by Allah, not by any of us or the citizens of this nation. It ought to be covered by NCERT, " the Samajwadi Party MP stated in response to a question on the inclusion of chapters from the Ramayana and Mahabharata in NCERT textbooks.
It is important to note that the seven-member NCERT group, which was established last year, has suggested that social science textbooks incorporate epics like the Ramayana and Mahabharata, and that classroom walls be painted with the Preamble to the Constitution.

NCERT, the National Council for Educational Research and Training, has not yet decided on the proposals. In accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the NCERT is updating the curriculum for schools. By the next school year, the updated NCERT textbooks are likely to be ready.
