    Tribunals in Assam have declared over 1.43 lac people as 'Foreigners'
    Digital Desk: The Assam chapter of the Foreigners Tribunals has announced a total of 1,43,466 people as foreigners in the land and out of the total, 329 of them were deported to their countries of origin.

    In a presser, after attending the Rajya Sabha session, Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai informed that a total of 1,21,598 have also been declared as Indians by the FTs.

    According to reports presented by him in the Rajya Sabha session, the pending cases in the Foreigners Tribunal as of December 31, 2021, are 1,23,829.

    "The total number of people declared as foreigners as of December 31, 2021, is 1,43,466. The total number of people declared as Indian as of December 31, 2021, is 1,21,598. A total of 329 persons have been deported to their countries of origin as of February 1, 2022," he added.

    The Union Minister of State For Home also mentioned that the state government and Union Territory administrations were delegated the powers and functions to make essential requirements for detention centers or camps as per their requirement.
