Digital Desk: India's first artificial intelligence city will be developed in Lucknow. Lucknow, the state capital, will now be developed as an AI city with approval from the Uttar Pradesh government, making it the newest IT powerhouse in the country, nicknamed the "city of nawabs".
It is predicted to boost the world economy by $15.7 trillion by 2030. That is around five times the current output of India or roughly three times the combined production of the top three economies in the world. By 2025, an estimated $500 billion more will have been added to India's GDP.
Lucknow has centers of excellence in areas like artificial intelligence (AI) and medical technology (with deep AI integration). Nestled at IIIT Lucknow, the AI COE fosters an innovative and entrepreneurial culture by providing support to over fifteen AI/ML start-ups.
In addition to office infrastructure based on plug-and-play technology, the real estate developer intends to construct a tower with Grade A office space for corporates, start-ups, and incubators.
As part of the proposal, the IT and Electronics Department has identified potential land parcels in key Lucknow locations for the establishment of AI City. To this end, the Department of IT and Electronics has chosen a 40-acre tract of land as a potential site for AI City construction. The site is situated around 3 kilometers from the Lucknow International Airport in the Nadarganj Industrial Area, which is a highly desirable area.
The EoI document states that the developer will be provided with financial support in the form of enticing incentives, including 100% stamp duty exemption in compliance with the IT and ITeS Policy, 2022, and a one-time capital expenditure support of up to Rs 20 crore for IT Park and Rs 100 crore for IT City.
The UP government wants to grow the economy to $1 trillion within the next five years, and IT and ITeS have been identified as important industries to propel the economy in this direction. Uttar Pradesh is the sixth-largest state in India in terms of the IT ecosystem. It is also the site of a sizable number of new businesses.
