Lucknow: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi asked the Centre to revoke the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC), warning that if it is not scrapped, protestors will make another Shaheen Bagh in the state.
While addressing a meeting in Barabunki, Owaisi said, “CAA is against the constitution of India, if this law is not taken back, we will come out on the streets of Uttar Pradesh and will create another Shaheen Bagh.”
“If the central government makes the law on the National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens (NRC), then we will hit the streets again.” added Owaisi.

Further, attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Owaisi claimed that Modi repealed the three contentious farm laws because of the upcoming assembly elections.
Oswaisi, digging into the topic of the Muslim community in Uttar Pradesh, said, “BJP government is responsible for the backwardness and unemployment of the Muslim Community in UP. Today the Ansari community and Qureshi community are on the verge of ruin in the state. The government has forced them to be unemployed by closing their meat shops.”
Appealing to the Muslim voters of the state, he said, “When Thakurs, Brahmins, Yadavs, Kurmis can become strong by uniting, why can’t you?”
Earlier, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen announced that it would contest 100 seats out of the 403 assembly seats in the upcoming UP assembly election. The party claimed that they were in talks with other parties to ally.
