Amit Shah Promises to Build Grand Sita Temple in Sitamarhi During Bihar Rally

Shah expressed the BJP's commitment to this endeavour, highlighting the importance of honouring Goddess Sita

Digital Desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a significant announcement during a rally in Bihar, stating that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will construct a grand temple dedicated to Goddess Sita in Sitamarhi, Bihar. Shah emphasised that only PM Narendra Modi and the BJP can undertake such a monumental project.

Shah expressed the BJP's commitment to this endeavour, highlighting the importance of honouring Goddess Sita, the wife of Lord Ram, by building a temple at her birthplace. He contrasted this promise with the achievements of PM Modi in constructing the Ram Lalla temple in Ayodhya, emphasising the BJP's dedication to upholding cultural and religious heritage.

In his address at the rally, Shah underscored the unique significance of Sitamarhi in Hindu scriptures, where Sita is believed to have originated from an earthen pot while Raja Janak ploughed the fields nearby. This proposed temple for Goddess Sita symbolises the BJP's reverence for Hindu traditions and its focus on cultural preservation.

The announcement of the Sita temple in Sitamarhi comes amidst the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, with Sitamarhi being one of the key constituencies going to polls in the fifth phase on May 20. Shah used this platform not only to unveil the temple project but also to criticise opposition leaders, particularly targeting RJD chief Lalu Prasad for his political alliances and contrasting the BJP's vision for Bihar with that of the opposition.

"Today, Lalu Yadav has aligned himself with the Congress party solely for power politics, aiming to elevate his son to the position of Chief Minister. This move is noteworthy considering the Congress party's historical opposition to the welfare of backward and extremely backward communities," he remarked.

Shah also pointed out that neither the Congress nor the RJD had considered honouring former Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur with the Bharat Ratna, a recognition which was eventually bestowed upon him by the Modi government.
