Big Boost to AI: Government Approves IndiaAI Program Worth Rs 10,372 Crore

Union Minister for State Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, sheds light on the seven crucial components of the IndiaAI Mission, as outlined by the cabinet press note.

Digital Desk: In a pivotal development to boost artificial intelligence (AI) in India, the Union Cabinet has approved the IndiaAI Mission, allocating a substantial budget of Rs 10,371.92 crore. This significant move comes on the heels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement last year, emphasising the need to establish robust computing powers for AI within the country. 

As reported by The Indian Express, the government aims to achieve this through a public-private model, enhancing computing capacity not only in the private sector but also in public sector undertakings (PSUs) like the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Indian Express reports.

These components are: IndiaAI Compute Capacity, IndiaAI Innovation Centre, IndiaAI Datasets Platform, IndiaAI Application Development Initiative, IndiaAI FutureSkills, IndiaAI Startup Financing, Safe & Trusted AI.

The mission aims to democratise computing access, improve data quality, develop indigenous AI capabilities, attract top AI talent, foster industry collaboration, provide startup risk capital, and ensure socially impactful AI projects, all while reinforcing ethical AI practices.
