Kejriwal alleged the BJP's plan involves arresting prominent AAP leaders like Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, and Saurabh Bharadwaj
Digital Desk: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of launching "Operation Jhaadu" to crush the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Kejriwal claimed the BJP sees AAP as a threat and wants to undermine the party by arresting its leaders, freezing bank accounts, and shutting down offices.
Addressing AAP workers, Kejriwal alleged the BJP's plan involves arresting prominent AAP leaders like Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, and Saurabh Bharadwaj. He claimed the Enforcement Directorate's lawyer stated in court that AAP's bank accounts would be frozen after the elections.
"They have an 'Operation Jhaadu' ongoing, which is that ever since I got bail, the PM has not stopped talking about AAP, that AAP is working well and the whole country is talking about their work and this party poses a threat to the BJP, which is why it is imperative to tackle with this party now itself," Kejriwal said, as quoted by NDTV.
Kejriwal called for a protest march to the BJP headquarters today, but the Delhi Police denied permission citing a lack of prior request, and imposed Section 144 in the area. Several AAP workers were detained as they attempted to march.
He went on to condemn Prime Minister Modi's characterization of him as a "Khalistani politician" during a rally, denouncing such strategies as disgraceful and illustrative of the extremes to which the BJP will resort to tarnish its adversaries.
The tensions escalated after the arrest of Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar in connection with the alleged assault on AAP MP Swati Maliwal. Kejriwal accused the BJP of targeting AAP and vowed to continue working for the people despite arrests.
