Digital Desk: The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) North responded to a viral video revealing the aggressive behaviour of a Delhi Police officer, identified as Manoj Kumar Tomar. The officer was caught on camera kicking Muslims engaged in Friday Namaz near Delhi's Inderlok. In an action, Tomar was suspended, and an inquiry has been initiated into the incident, which had stirred a significant public protest.
The video led to a notable protest in the Inderlok area. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate voiced criticism against the Delhi Police, emphasizing the contradiction between their (BJP) actions and the supposed principles of peace, service, and justice.
Congress leader Imran Pratapgarhi condemned the act, suggesting the Delhi Police file a case against the officer, questioning the evident hostility and lack of understanding of basic human principles.
In response to the outcry, DCP North, Manoj Meena, confirmed that Tomar, the police post in charge seen in the video, was suspended immediately.
He assured that necessary disciplinary actions were being taken against the officer. DCP Meena further communicated with the protesters, explaining the actions taken against the police and making announcements through the mosque authorities.
