Digital Desk: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday announced the constituency of its Gujarat chief ministerial candidate, Isudan Gadhvi for the upcoming assembly elections. Gadhvi will run for office from the Khambhalia constituency. The AAP has so far revealed the manes of 176 candidates.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announcing the development wrote on twitter, "Isudan Gadhvi, who for years raised his voice for farmers, unemployed youth, women, businessmen, will contest election from Jam Khambhalia! Gujarat will get a new and good chief minister from the holy land of Lord Krishna."
In response to Kejriwal's tweet, Gadhvi said that he would assure that he would serve the people of Gujarat. "The faith you and the people of Gujarat have placed in me, I assure that I will serve the people of Gujarat till my last breath. Jai Jai Garvi Gujarat!," the AAP's CM candidate wrote.
Gadhvi was announced as the AAP's nominee for chief minister in the Gujarat Assembly Elections of 2022 last week. Gadhvi serves as the AAP's National Joint General Secretary. In a poll by the Kejriwal-led party to choose a Gujarat chief minister candidate, he garnered more than 73% of the votes. Gadhvi was a well-known journalist from Gujarat.
Gujarat's legislative elections are set to take place on December 1 and 5 in two phases. On December 8, the results will also be announced for Himachal Pradesh. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is in power, and the Congress will be the two primary candidates in the Gujarat elections of 2022. The AAP also aims to reduce both parties' vote shares.
It is to be noted that the BJP has retained power in the state since 1998. Out of the 182 seats up for election in 2017, the BJP won 99, while the Congress did win 77.
