Gautam Gambhir Quits Bjp Amid Speculations Of Not Getting A Ticket From Bjp

including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, are expected to be on the BJP's first list of 100 candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

Digital Desk: Former cricketer Gaumat Gambhir, who represented the BJP in the East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, announced his wish to quit active politics. He wrote on X, asking BJP chief J. P. Nadda to relieve him of all his duties.

"I have requested Hon'ble Party President JP Nadda ji to relieve me of my political duties so that I can focus on my upcoming cricket commitments. I sincerely thank Hon'ble PM Narendra Modi for giving me the opportunity to serve the people. Jai Hind," Gautam Gambhir wrote.

The announcement of his departure is a hefty defeat to the Delhi BJP, as he has been the face of the BJP in the capital. He has been an active vote-getter for the Delhi BJP; his magic was also seen during the MCD elections when the BJP could win only his constituency.

Titans of the BJP, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, are expected to be on the BJP's first list of 100 candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha election. The party convened lengthy overnight sessions in Delhi, including one that started at 11 p.m. on Thursday and was hosted by the prime minister at his Delhi home.

But BJP insiders are speculating that Gautam Gambhir won't be fielded as a contender in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. “However, the probable candidates who would be fielded from the East Delhi seat in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 include the BJP's Delhi unit chief Virendra Sachdeva, general secretary Harsh Malhotra, and treasurer Vishnu Mittal.” Mint reports.

Seizing the chance, AAP minister Atishi said that throughout Gautam Gambhir's five-year mandate, he did nothing in his constituency. She accused other BJP MPs of being unreachable in their respective areas.

Meanwhile, the BJP's Jayant Sinha MP has also asked JP Nadda to release him from his direct electoral responsibilities, adding his name to the list of party leaders who are not fielding for seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
