Digital Desk: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar announced on Monday that the government would help generate 10 lakh jobs in the state under various arrangements in a bid to control employment in the state.
Speaking to a large gathering at Patna's Gandhi Maidan to celebrate the country's 75th Independence Day, Kumar promised that the newly formed JD(U) and RJD alliance would soon come up with a strategy to add 10 lakh new government employment. In additional sectors, there would be an extra 10 lakh job openings.
In order to provide jobs and employment prospects for youngsters in the state, both within the government and outside it, Kumar said: "We will do so much that if we succeed, we will take the total to 20 lakhs."

After an old video surfaced showing Yadav promising supporters 10 lakh jobs in the state if he wins office, Yadav and the state BJP got into a spat. The BJP condemned Yadav for his statements in response to which he had disparaged the saffron party on religious matters.
In order to create a new front, Kumar left the National Democratic Alliance earlier this month and teamed up with his erstwhile ally, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Last Wednesday, he took his oath of office as chief minister. The Grand Alliance is made up of seven parties this time around: JD(U), RJD, Congress, CPIML(L), CPI, CPI(M), and HAM. Out of the 243 assembly members, 160 are members of the new front.
In 2015, Kumar and the RJD shared the state assembly victory. But due to allegations of corruption, Kumar severed his relationship with Yadav in 2017 and joined the NDA. JD(U) and BJP won state elections together in 2020, and JD(U) was elected chief minister for the sixth time.
