"Operation Lotus has been defeated in Punjab," Bhagwant Mann said after the Trust Vote victory

Digital Desk: The Aam Aadmi Party
government in Punjab won the trust vote in the assembly on Monday, despite a
walkout by Congress members. "Operation Lotus has been defeated in
Punjab," Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann declared after the Punjab Assembly
    "unanimously" passed his motion.

The assembly had begun debating the motion, with AAP MLAs
criticizing the BJP for "Operation Lotus," an alleged attempt to
destabilize the six-month-old government. The party had previously claimed that
the BJP approached at least ten of its MLAs with an offer of Rs 25 crore for
each of them in an attempt to destabilize the Mann government through the
    alleged operation.

Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan put the trust vote to a vote after
a discussion. He asked those who supported the motion of confidence to raise
their hands, and then those who opposed it to do the same.

Members of the Congress party walked out as soon as the debate
began, demanding that the Speaker allow them to speak and raise issues during
    the Zero Hour.

The motion was supported by 91 AAP MLAs, while one of the three sad MLAs present in the House and a single BJP MLA did not oppose it. "So
far, 93 MLAs have supported the motion, while none have opposed it. As a
result, the motion is approved unanimously "said the Speaker.

The session is taking place as they accuse the AAP government
of violating the Constitution by bringing the confidence motion before the
assembly. The Congress had also questioned the AAP government's decision to
bring the confidence motion, claiming that no rule in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha
allows the ruling party to do so.

The session was called after the governor gave his approval
to summon the House on September 27 after days of disagreement between the Raj
Bhavan and the AAP government over holding an Assembly session.
