Guwahati: Drone camera survey will be used to check the authenticity of the tree plantation programme in the state under Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) and other biodiversity projects said by the Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
CM sarma added that we are going to initiate massive reforms in the Forest Dept soon so that incidents like that of elephants deaths in Bamuni Hills do not occur ever again.
Further, the CM stressed that times have taught us the importance of oxygen & we all must strive towards preserving our forests & biodiversity.
CM Sarma on Wednesday attended the mega plantation programme organized by the Environment & Forest Department at the AIIMS construction site at Changsari on the occasion of 72nd Van Mahotsav.
The plantation programme was also attended by the state Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, BJP President Bhabesh Kalita and Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary.
