Guwahati: A man was trampled to death by an elephant near Bhima Sankar Temple in Guwahati’s Basistha area. The man has been identified as Jama. Meanwhile, the incident has created a major fear psychosis in the area as the place is frequently visited by elephants.
Basistha Police have reported many incidents of wild elephants frequenting the area and causing a menace.
Due to the monsoon season, many wild elephants have come out of their habitat, in search of food in human habitation and living space.
