    7 Schools in Dibrugarh Shut Down Due to Surge in Covid-19 Cases
     

    Dibrugarh: On Friday, the Dibrugarh district administration shut down five schools of the district for seven days following the detection of multiple covid-19 cases on the school premises. 

    The schools closed by the authority are- Nandeswar Chakravorty HS School, Sepon Hatipati High School, Chachani Jamunamukh HS School, Tipling Girls High School and Naharkatia HS School.

    Reportedly, the schools will reopen after seven days with due permission from the Deputy Commissioner, Dibrugarh.

    As per National Health Mission (NHM) data, Assam has registered 7,929 new cases in a single day.

    The data also stated that Guwahati city registered 1,716 new cases against 1,929 infections witnessed on the previous day. It has registered a sum of 1,46,328 infections so far.

    The new infections were identified from 61,359 tests done on Thursday, while the positivity rate rose to 12.92 percent. The data displayed that the number of recoveries lowered by over 28 percent; around 1,960 individuals recovered from the infection on Thursday compared to 2,723 on Wednesday.

    According to reports, 12 people succumbed to the infection on Thursday, down from 15 on Wednesday. Jorhat, Nagaon, Bongaigaon, Cachar, Dhemaji, Goalpara, Kamrup, Nalbari, Sonitpur, and Tinsukia districts reported casualties.

    With these numbers, the total number of casualties of covid-19 infected individuals has moved up to 7,607, including 1,347 with co-morbidities.

    Presently, Assam holds 41,118 Covid-19 active cases.
