Zubeen Garg said, "The names - India, Bharat, and Hindustan - are synonymously used to define our country'...
Digital Desk: Assam singer Zubeen Garg amid the raging 'India vs. Bharat' debate, stated that altering the name of India was pointless because all three terms - India, Bharat, and Hindustan - are used mutually to define our country.
When asked about the present 'India vs. Bharat' argument, Garg replied to the reporters, "What is the point of changing names?" "The term 'India' cannot simply be erased from history."
The controversy resurfaced earlier this week after rumours surfaced that the central government may introduce a new resolution to rename India Bharat at a special parliamentary session later this month.
The Times Now reports revealing that the administration would present a bill to rename India the 'Republic of Bharat' during the upcoming extraordinary session of Parliament.
According to prominent sources in the national media, the government is likely to table the measure during the session.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the same on his Twitter (X) handle. He said in his post, "REPUBLIC OF BHARAT - happy and proud that our civilisation is marching boldly ahead towards AMRIT KAAL."
It has also come to light that the invites to the G20 dinner were sent in the name of 'President of Bharat' rather than 'President of India'. Jairam Ramesh, a senior Congress politician, confirmed this.
Notably, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi announced on August 31 that a special five-day session of parliament would be held from September 18 to 22.
