Digital Desk: In a significant move aimed at bolstering law enforcement efforts and enhancing criminal investigations, the government of Assam, under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, unveiled seven state-of-the-art Mobile Forensic Science Laboratory vehicles in Guwahati on Thursday. These vehicles are part of a broader initiative to curb criminal activity and track down offenders in the city.
The official inauguration ceremony took place at Dispur and was attended by key dignitaries and law enforcement officials. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in his address, highlighted the importance of these mobile forensic labs in ensuring the safety and security of Guwahati's residents.
"These Mobile Forensic Science Laboratory vehicles are a crucial addition to our law enforcement toolkit. They will play a pivotal role in expediting criminal investigations, ensuring justice is served swiftly, and deterring criminal activities in our city," Chief Minister Sarma stated during the launch event.
The mobile forensic labs are equipped with cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art equipment, enabling forensic experts to conduct on-the-spot analysis of evidence collected from crime scenes. This real-time capability is expected to significantly reduce the time required to process evidence and provide valuable insights into ongoing investigations.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Sarma announced the government's intention to gradually introduce similar mobile forensic vehicles in other districts across Assam, extending the reach and capabilities of the state's law enforcement agencies.
In a related development, an off-site campus of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) is set to be established in Guwahati, as officially notified in the Gazette of India by the Ministry of Home Affairs. This move has garnered praise from various quarters, including Chief Minister Sarma, who took to the social media platform 'X' (formerly known as Twitter) to express his gratitude.
"Deeply thankful to the Hon'ble Prime Minister and Hon'ble Home Minister for officially giving a National Forensic Sciences University campus in Guwahati. A significant step towards modernizing criminal investigation in our region," Chief Minister Sarma tweeted.
The establishment of the NFSU campus in Guwahati is seen as a significant step forward in equipping law enforcement agencies in Assam with the necessary tools and expertise to effectively combat crime and ensure justice prevails.
The Assam government had previously approved the establishment of the National Forensic Sciences University in the capital city of Guwahati in a move aimed at bolstering the state's forensic capabilities and advancing criminal investigation techniques. With the introduction of mobile forensic science laboratories and the upcoming NFSU campus, Assam is poised to take a major leap forward in its fight against crime and in delivering justice to its citizens.
