Digital Desk: The vigilance cell of the Assam Chief Minister has filed a chargesheet against arrested ACS (Assam Civil Service) officer Sukanya Bora over her alleged involvement in a case of misappropriation of MP money allocated for local area development (MPLAD).

The chargesheet was filed following her arrest on January 18, 2024.

Authorities have filed a massive 1133-page chargesheet in the Special Court, Assam, under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, in relation to the case against Sukanya Bora, ACS (U/S), the former Additional Deputy Commissioner cum IC District Development Commissioner of Kamrup Metro, and 14 other individuals. This is a significant development in the ongoing corruption scandal in Assam.

A significant milestone in the court case against individuals connected to the embezzlement of MPLAD funds has been reached with the filing of the chargesheet. It follows a thorough inquiry into claims of corrupt practices and unjust enrichment made during Bora's tenure as a public servant.

According to the investigation, Bora had assets of Rs 8,14,18,533.54, which was a startling rise of 786.26 percent when compared to her known sources of income.

The issue has sent shockwaves across the state, emphasizing the pressing need for measures to combat corruption and uphold integrity in public service.
