Assam Duo Made Anti-Viral Herbal Drink to Fight Against Coronavirus

Digital Desk: An anti-viral herbal drink made by an Assam duo was proven to be 98 percent efficient against coronavirus in a Bhubaneswar laboratory.

Pankaj Gogoi of Dhemaji and Pranjal Gam of Golaghat have filed a patent for the drink created from a blend of herbal plants that people in the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border region had been using from the ancient time as an herbal treatment.

"We had our drink examined at the Institute of Life Sciences, a self-contained institute inside the Department of Biotechnology of the Central Government. According to a report published on August 25, 2021, the drink is "98% efficient as an anti-viral against covid-19." claimed Gogoi.

The herbal drink's cytotoxicity was also examined, and according to a report released on October 6, it claimed that it was highly effective against infected cells.

Moreover, the duo had also contacted with the concerned ministries and departments.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister's office directed them to seek more information from the Institute of Life Sciences on December 28, while the Ministry of AYUSH has yet to respond.

On January 2, a senior official of the Department of Biotechnology directed them to the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council for advice regarding pre-clinical testing, Drugs Controller General of India clearances, marketing permissions, and other matters.

The duo has also written to the US National Institute of Health's National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health about using their herbal drink to fight covid-19.

"We have applied to the Deputy Commissioner of Dhemaji district, as instructed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma." Gogoi said.

Further, he claimed that the drink, based on indigenous knowledge of herbs, is entirely safe to consume.
