Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state achieved its 4cr vaccination goal today. CM Sarma has shared a post announcing the attainment amid the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the state.
Assam's chief minister shared a post that displayed the complete number of vaccinated people. The details highlighted that around 4,00,22,217 individuals of the state had been provided the Covid-19 vaccine.
Moreover, the first doses were given to 2,29,02,926 individuals, and the second vaccine doses were given to 1,70,62,917 individuals. Besides, precautionary doses have been provided to 56,374.
When Assam has reached this landmark, the third wave of Covid-19 has officially started with its new Omicron variant. The Assam government has set limitations, including night curfew hours from 11 pm to 6 pm, to restrict the surge of the virus.
Lately, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated that those not taking the vaccine will be restricted from entering public premises like market spaces, shopping malls, etc.
However, on Monday, the Centre has filed an affidavit to the Supreme Court of India stating its voluntary to take the vaccination, but not mandatory.
On the other hand, Assam has imposed curfew-like conditions for those who have not taken vaccines. There can be tough circumstances witnessed in the state where health officials urged people to take the vaccine. Whereas, considerable individuals were seen not willing to take the vaccine citing various reasons.
