    Guwahati: In view of the spike in covid cases in the state, the Assam government has announced to re-impose the covid restrictions in the state. The covid restrictions will come into force from January 8, 2022, and will remain in force until further orders.





    The new covid restrictions are as follows-





    • If the covid-19 positivity case in any area reaches more than 10 cases in the last seven days. In that case, the jurisdictional District Magistrate will notify such areas as the total containment zone in consultation with MD, NHM and ensure necessary containment measures for COVID-19. However, essential services will be available around the clock in such zones.  
    • Curfew time will start from 10 pm-6 am in the state.
    • Workplace and business/commercial establishments will have to close at 9 pm.
    • Functioning of government and private offices will continue as usual working hours but not beyond 9 pm.
    • Restaurants and other eateries will be open till 9 pm; however, the takeaway of food items will continue till 10 pm.
    • All government servants (including contractual and fixed pay) should be fully vaccinated and attend office. Whereas employees who are not fully vaccinated will not be allowed to attend office. They will have to take a leave if the casual leave has already been taken, then they will be exempted from the monthly salary.
    • Employees engaged in emergency/ essential services shall attend their duty without any restriction at any place.
    • All public transport authorities shall enforce appropriate covid-19 behaviour.
    • Vehicles such as auto-rickshaw and taxis shall operate for passengers with 100 percent seating capacity.
    • Pillion riding on the motorcycle will be allowed who are fully vaccinated with compulsory use of a mask.  
    • Inter-district transport, with 100 percent seating capacity. However, fully vaccinated passengers were only allowed to travel.
    • No standing passengers shall be allowed in public transport.
    • Wearing of face mask is compulsory even for a single person driving a vehicle.
    • All schools up to class 8 in Kamrup (M) and up to class 5 in all other districts shall remain closed.
    • Physical classes shall be allowed on alternate days for class 9 and above in Kamrup (M) district and for class 6 and above in all other districts.
    • In close venues, gatherings are allowed up to 50 percent of the seating capacity at the hall, auditorium, etc.
    • With fully vaccinated attendees, marriage/ Religious functions will be allowed with not more than 200 people.
    • In religious and social places, up to 60 fully vaccinated people will be allowed and 40 fully vaccinated persons per hour for other religious places.
    • 100 fully vaccinated people will be allowed in the Funeral rites.
    • All the weekly markets are allowed to open in a shift of a maximum of 6 hours.
    • Cinema halls will be opened with 50 percent of the seating capacity of fully vaccinated viewers.




    Other guidelines and restrictions





    • Wearing of face mask is compulsory in all public places and non-compliance of the same will attract fines.
    • Non-vaccinated people shall not be allowed entry in public spaces/places (except hospitals). People have to carry the fully vaccinated certificate at all places.
    • Shop owners shall ensure a minimum six feet distance among customers and shall not allow more than five persons inside the shop at any time.
