Guwahati: Assam has been witnessing a drastic drop in the number of covid cases in the last few weeks. The state government has been slightly easing out covid restrictions imposed in the state due to the drop in the number of covid cases.
The state recorded 689 fresh cases on Wednesday, taking the total caseload to 6,659. The positive rate continues to remain below 1 percent for this week as well.
The new cases have been detected out of 90,547 covid-19 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. 7 deaths were reported, while 681 cured cases were discharged.
Meanwhile, a large number of people have been seen moving around in the state without masks. It's not like the disease has completely bid farewell. But the drop in the number of cases and the subsequent easing of the covid restrictions has catapulted into a ‘No-mask’ look again.
Not only are people doing away with their masks, but many places have also witnessed huge crowds, where social gathering is in no way visible. Covid protocols have gone for a toss, with people least concerned about the warnings of a third wave by the country’s top health officials.
