Digital Desk: Discussions over Cotton University's alleged consideration of leasing out university land to generate revenue are all over the internet right now. A team has been constituted to discuss possible space allocations on university property in order to address this issue. Lurinjyoti Gogoi, the leader of the AJP, has expressed his views on this matter.
Leader of the AJP Lurinjyoti Gogoi said in a statement: "The dire financial state of Cotton University is solely the fault of the government." The state government ought to have created a detailed strategy and evaluated the financial needs of operating a state university before deciding to convert Cotton College into a university. The government is currently operating on loans because it is already in debt. As a result, colleges and universities are unable to receive sufficient funding. These institutions are now bearing more of the load, with the expectation that they will bring in money on their own. It is wholly inappropriate to insist that the institution self-finance and this is a crucial problem as the students' futures are at risk."
On May 15, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma angrily rejected the notion of leasing Cotton University's assets. He has ordered the administration of the university to put an end to these kinds of activities.

"It is regrettable that a notification issued by the authorities of Cotton University recently has led to controversy and concern about proposed modes of facilitation and services for the student community," the Registrar of Cotton University said in a press release in response to the news
