Aizwal: The Mizoram Government has decided to transport the supply of the essential commodities, including rice, fuel, cooking gas, through Tripura and Manipur.
Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister K. Lalrinliana said, “The government has already begun the transportation of petrol and diesel from Tripura on Wednesday.”
“Oil tankers likely to arrive in Mizoram from Tripura by Friday. We will also send seven oil tankers and four trucks to transport LPG from Agartala on Friday.” the Minister added.
The Minister asserted that we have sufficient rice stock for at least three months in the State, and in connection to it, some traders from Tripura have already reached Mizoram.”
Stressing about the transport of rice, the Minister stated that the Mizoram government signed an agreement with the authorities of the Food Corporation of India, Tripura, for the transportation of rice in the State.
Moreover, speaking about transportation with Manipur, the Minister asserted that the state government is presently discussing with the Manipur government for the transport of essential commodities.
“No vehicles have entered Mizoram from Assam after the clash; due to it, we are not facing any crises of essential commodities.” said the Minister.
Earlier, the Mizoram government on Wednesday sent a letter to the Union Home Secretary appealing involvement in the issue of economic blockade in the Barak Valley following the terrorizing clash in the Assam-Meghalaya border, killing six Assam Police personnel, one civilian, and injuring more than 65 police personnel including the SP.
